Job Summary

The Wireless Installation Technician requires excellent customer service skills and technical ability. The position requires completing customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting, and recovery of equipment. Work is performed on site at customer locations both with a physical aspect of installing Internet equipment, as well as a technical portion of updating systems.

 

Essential Functions

• Perform site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability.

• Install new customers with Internet service, which includes mounting equipment at roof height, running Cat5-E cable from outside to the customer’s computer inside.

• Configure routers and customer computers for access to Internet services.

• Perform equipment upgrades for existing customers.

• Diagnose customer problems at service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.

• Perform other duties as assigned

• Must pass a drug screening test and a criminal background check.

• Must be able to use tools to install equipment.

 

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

• Bachelor, Associates or Technical College preferred or obtaining

• Internet Install experience preferred

• Cable TV Install experience preferred

• IT Certifications regarding networking preferred

• General knowledge of wireless networking (routers, access points, etc.)

Physical Demands

• Frequently moving, transporting, positioning objects of at least 40 pounds or more

• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms

• Must be able to climb roof tops of all types and towers to perform job duties from high places.

• Must be able to pull own body weight plus equipment weight up roofs and vertical tower repeatedly

• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, sit, and climb ladders and communication towers and work in an elevated position

• Frequently required to use hand and power tools

• Must have the ability to climb extended heights upwards of 10-100 feet

 

Working Hours/Days

• 40 hours minimum, flexible schedule

• Overtime as needed

• Able to be on-call for weekend outages as needed

 

Travel Requirements

• 0-20% travel required

Pay

$15.00 - $25.00 start per hour (Based on experience)
